When is South Stack Lighthouse open?
South Stack Lighthouse is open to visitors from 12 noon to 5pm on Fridays and 10.30am to 4.30pm every other day. The final tour will be 30 minutes before closing. You can not visit the island outside of these times as the bridge will be closed. The ticket kiosk closes one house before closing time.

How do you get to South Stack lighthouse?
From there, make your way towards the cliffs, crossing a swathe of heath until you reach the start of the coastal path. You will pass Ellin’s Tower, erected in 1868 by the Lord Lieutenant of Anglesey as a summerhouse for his wife. You will then encounter the start of the descent down to the lighthouse. Descend 400 steps to South Stack Lighthouse.

How did the South Stack lighthouse become a sea stack?
These islands were once connected to the main land mass as well, but thousands of years of erosion caused by waves dashing against the rocks separated them into sea stacks. The South Stack Lighthouse was completed in 1809 and sits 41 meters (135 feet) above the sea.

There are walls yes, so you can't fall off the steps onto the cliff if that's what you mean. It's a very steep walk though

Is 2 hours long enough for a visit to the Lighthouse. We need to be in Beaumaris for 12:30pm. I’m thinking if we get there for 9:30am and leave at 11:30am we will have enough time to take a look round but I’m not sure?

No. The road up to the Lighthouse is single track. There are three parking areas. The first is quite small and was full when we arrived. The second is next to the cafe and was also full of cars, except for a few disabled bay spaces. The final area is at top overlooking the lighthouse, there was a camper van parked there but it was half the size of yours and to be honest this car park was pretty full when we came back. You could also have problems with turning around. All car parks have charges.
